Lots of major updates are coming for Mortal Kombat 11. The Game Awards 2019 ended up ushering in an era of announcements. Most notably, there was a Mortal Kombat 11 Joker release date announcement. Since then, a patch has been released to pave the way for Mortal Kombat 11 cross-play.
First, Joker will be coming to Mortal Kombat 11 on January 28, 2019. The trailer didn’t note if this would be his release date for people who had the Kombat Pack or if is his general launch date. As a fun aside, he faces off against a Cassie Cage wearing the Harley Quinn costume NetherRealm showed off back in October 2019.
As for Mortal Kombat 11 cross-play, which is referred to as Krossplay in the official FAQs, is currently in the testing phase. It will eventually allow PlayStation 4 and Xbox One owners to play the game together. The feature can be turned on or off to add it to Kasual Versus, and there will be specific Krossplay Online Rooms. This will only apply to multiplayer, as progress on one console will not carry over to another. It also notes that, at this time, the Nintendo Switch, PC, and Stadia won’t support Krossplay.
Mortal Kombat 11 is available for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Stadia. Previous DLC characters include Sindel, Terminator T-800, and Nightwolf.
