Sega released new info on Project Sakura Wars today at TGS 2019, including two new trailers and two new commercials. Sega also revealed the Berlin Combat Revue, who have been designed by Fumikane Shimada, known for their work on Strike Witches and Girls und Panzer. [Thanks, 4Gamer!]
Check out the game’s story trailer below:
The trailer shows off the flow of the story, where the Combat Revue is about to be disbanded, and so as a last resort to prove themselves and build the Imperial Combat Revue, the new Imperial Combat Revue members join the World Combat Revue War.
Anastasia & Azami’s Combat Gameplay
On stage, Sega revealed Anastasia and Azami’s combat outfits, as well as their main form of weaponry while in the Mugen Spiricle Fighters. Anastasia fights with a pistol and umbrella-shaped rifle that can also be used in close combat when needed. Azami attacks close up, and throws shurikens as her part of her finisher. She does blunt damage and has a wide range for her aerial attack and finisher.
New Character – Yasha (CV: Chisa Yokoyama)
A mysterious higher-level Kouma that appeared at the Combat Revue War opening ceremony, bringing disaster with her. She’s looking for an item known as the ‘Imperial Key’. Who is this mysterious person who looks like the previous top star of the Imperial Combat Revue’s Floral Division?!
Puppet Soldier ‘Shinmetsu’
A Puppet Soldier operated by Yasha via spiritual power. It’s larger than a regular Spiricle Fighter, but boasts devastating mobility that outspeeds the Mugen, and attacks fiercely using its longsword.
Berlin Combat Revue – Schwarzstern
Elise (CV: Nana Mizuki)
The captain of the Berlin Combat Revue, Schwarzstern. She’s 18 years old. She’s faithful to her mission, and will pull through no matter the task. She doesn’t speak much, but has the will and leadership to stand her ground and not bend to anyone. She has a fascination with Japanese culture, and thus can be seen watching kabuki at the Imperial capital.
Margarete (CV: Rie Kugimiya)
A 15-year old member of the Berlin Combat Revue. She’s a prodigy who acts as the battle tactician for the Berlin Combat Revue, and also has a habit of saying what she thinks, no matter how harsh it may seem. Many of her operations are so difficult they seem impossible to execute, but the Berlin Combat Revue are the only ones who can pull through thanks to their abilities.
Spiricle Fighter ‘Eisenjaeger’
The Berlin Combat Revue’s Spiricle Fighters, which were developed from the same geneology as the Eisenkleid Spiricle Armors used in the past by the European Star Division. Apart from its heavy armor and firepower, the Eisenjaeger possesses an intimidating appearance that makes the enemy waver.
Designer Fumikane Shimada left a message regarding designing the Berlin Combat Revue, saying that it felt strange to go from being a regular Sakura Wars player to designing for the series. He was quite nervous about participating, but after seeing Kubo-sensei’s main character designs, he went in and designed with his own flair as to not fall behind Kubo-sensei.
