A major first is happening for Lupin III with Lupin III The First. The next movie will be a 3D CG movie. Previously, the animated movies were in 2D. The first trailer was released, showing how the characters will look in 3D.

Lupin III The First is being directed and written by Takashi Yamazaki. Yamazaki also wrote and directed both Parasyte: Part 1 and Part 2 and the upcoming Dragon Quest: Your Story. Details about its story aren’t yet available, but it is a part of the Lupin III: The Woman Called Fujiko Mine storyline that involved the anime series of the same name and the films Lupin III: Jigen’s Gravestone and Lupin III: Goemon Ishikawa’s Spray of Blood.

Here is the first trailer showing 3DCG Lupin, Jigen, Goemon, Fujiko, and Zenigata.

Lupin III The First will appear in Japanese theaters on December 6, 2019. A localization has not yet been announced. The most recent TV series is Lupin the Third Part 5.
