An Utawarerumono: Zan release date has finally arrived. People outside of Japan will get to play through the game in September 2019. North American PlayStation 4 owners will have access to it first, as it will appear there on September 10, 2019. Then, on September 13, 2019, it will come to Europe.

Utawarerumono: Zan shakes up the standard Utawarerumono formula. Rather than offer people a visual novel with turn-based, strategic battles between story segments, it is a Musou-style beat’em up. To help people get a better grasp of what these people will be capable in more frantic battles, trailers showing off their moves will offer closer looks at each one. The first focuses on the characters we’ll meet at the outset of the adventure: Haku, Kuon, Rulutieh, and Ukon.

Haku is Utawarerumono: Zan‘s here. He’s a human amnesiac and strategist who was found by Kuon, one of the beastwomen present in the world. He wields a fan in a fight. Kuon is a healer who fights with her fists. Rulutieh is a princess who doesn’t go anywhere without her bird friend, Cocopo. Consequently, Cocopo does all of the attacking. Finally, Ukon is a more traditional swordsman. Which fits, given his role in Utawarerumono.

Here is the first Utawarerumono: Zan Those Who Rise trailer.

Utawarerumono: Zan will come to the PlayStation 4 in North America on September 10, 2019 and in Europe on September 13, 2019.
