Tiny Metal is getting a sequel. Area 35, which is run by Hiroaki Yura, revealed Tiny Metal: Full Metal Rumble will be coming to the Nintendo Switch in North America and Europe in Spring 2019. It will be playable at both GDC 2019 and PAX East 2019 in March 2019.

In Tiny Metal: Full Metal Rumble‘s campaign, players will follow White Fangs Commander Wolfram as she searches for her missing brother. Along the way, as people go through the 39 campaign missions, she will also find her and her 23 different kinds of units will keep facing off against the Dinoldans. The campaign will have full English voice acting. The game will have 77 skirmish maps total, with four difficulty levels, and 21 of those maps can be played in multiplayer.

Here is the first Tiny Metal: Full Metal Rumble trailer. Note that while it says Area 35 at the beginning of the trailer, at the 1:06 mark it mentions an “Area 34.”

As a reminder, there have been no updates about Project Phoenix in 2019. That was the JRPG Kickstarter that raised $1,014,600 from 15,802 backers, but never resulted in a game. It was run by Creative Intelligence Arts, the CEO of which was Yura. (Yura is acting as Tiny Metal: Full Metal Rumble‘s Producer.) The last Kickstarter update, released on July 31, 2018, went over the results of legal dispute with an Area 35 Inc. employee and noted that copies of Tiny Metal couldn’t be given away to Project Phoenix backers, due to Unties and Sony Music Entertainment being the game’s publisher.

The original Tiny Metal is immediately available on the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PC. Back in a December 2017 Siliconera interview, Yura noted that 150,000 copies of Tiny Metal would need to be sold to revive Project Phoenix.
