Topeka, Kansas will be named ToPikachu for the second time in the history of the city on October 27, 2018, in celebration of Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Let’s Go, Eevee!. Nintendo will be visiting the area as part of the Pokémon Let’s Go Road Trip tour event.

The news was revealed by Topeka Mayor Michelle De La Isla at a city council meeting. Nintendo will set up two trucks where people can try out the latest Pokémon game outside Topeka Zoo. [Thanks, WIBW!]

Topeka has experimented with name changes several times in the past, including another instance of ‘ToPikachu’ all the way back in August 27, 1998, celebrating the launch of Pokémon: Red and Blue on Game Boy. In 2010, Topeka also temporarily renamed itself ‘Google, Kansas’ as part of a bid to be part of the Google Fiber project.

Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Eevee! will come to the Nintendo Switch on November 16, 2018.
