We didn’t know what to make of MindJack when we discovered the trademark filed by Square Enix back in May. Now we do.
MindJack is a co-op third-person shooter, designed for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, by FeelPlus. You know them most recently for Lost Odyssey. Set in the year 2031, the game appears to be a shooter with RPG elements. Put in the role of a “mind hacker,” — a member of a rogue squad of agents trying to uncover a government conspiracy — you’re given the ability to hack into the minds of your enemies to take them over, and take control of their bodies. But you can also hack into the minds of civilians and take control of vehicles this way as well. In the multiplayer component, players can hack each other’s minds, too.
During the course of the game, you’ll gain experience with which you can level up your “Arts” abilities, as Square are calling them. The standout feature they’re pointing to for MindJack is that the single player campaign allegedly fits seamlessly in with the multiplayer one. Here’s the debut trailer, complete with hideous narration.
