OK, so maybe the Necromachina trailer didn’t grab your attention, but this bit of probably news will. Kouichi "Isuke" Yotsui, one of the designers of Strider, is creating the side scrolling action game for Square Enix.

After leaving Capcom, Yotsui went on to make Osman, a Strider-like arcade game where Abdullah the Slaver destroys society and a bodybuilder/Judicial Affairs officer hires an assassin to take care of him. Necromachina also has a wacky story, which Square Enix summarized.

At the dawn of the 22nd century, an evil power brought inanimate objects to life, and they turned on humanity. Bridges, cars, cups–the whole of humanity’s creations turned on their makers. But hidden amongst humanity’s survivors, an elite unit of specially trained ninja known as Moondivers has been lying in wait for orders to reclaim the planet. Today, those orders arrived.

Ninjas vs.sentient bridges are coming to you on PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade later this year.
