Ichigo and Rukia were shown off in a new trailer for Jump Force that debuted today at ACGHK 2018, as well the stage based on Hong Kong, which has merged with the world of One Piece.
(Trailer starts at the 14:30 mark):
The trailer shows off Ichigo and Rukia fighting in a version of Hong Kong which has merged with the world of One Piece, with the Thousand Sunny being seen in the background of the level. There are two parts to the stage, which shifts when enemies are hit especially hard: an empty main street lit up by dozens of neon signs, and a harbor front where Hong Kong’s famous skyline can be seen in the distance.
Near the end of the trailer, a glimpse of Rukia in her Bankai form, and Hollow Ichigo can be seen. Because the Bleach characters in Jump Force are based on ‘The Thousand-Year Blood War’ arc, Bandai Namco based their appearances and fighting style on how they would fight in that period of time.
Hong Kong stage
Hong Kong was chosen to cross over with One Piece because Hong Kong is a harbor city, which fit the One Piece’s theme. (Hong Kong is also known to be one of the ports renowned pirate Cheung Po Tsai used to stay at.)
More gameplay:
A look at Ichigo and Rukia’s combos and moves in battle. Jump Force’s deputy producer Hiroshi Hirata stressed that the graphic quality is currently not indicative of the final version, as the game is still in development. However, a lot of thought has been put into how the super moves look in a realistic setting, as well as how the lighting changes during transformations and super moves in order to enhance the feeling of power.
Jump Force releases on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in 2019. You can also check out the ‘Supercut’ trailer in our previous report here.
