The latest issue of MCV, a gaming business magazine in the UK, reveals that NIS America and SNK have a deal with Nintendo for the physical version of SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy. The information comes from an interview with NIS America CEO Takuro Yamashita. Yamashita also talked about current Disgaea 5 sales on Nintendo Switch, and producer Alan Costa also talked about Ys VIII. [Thanks, Nintendo Everything!]

Here are the highlights:

  • NIS America was originally only signed on for the PlayStation 4 version, but NIS America, Nintendo of Europe, and SNK met each other in two separate meetings at Gamescom, as Nintendo wanted to work with SNK on an exclusive basis. A deal was struck so that the physical version of SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy will be exclusive to Nintendo Switch.

  • Nintendo will act as a distributor for SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy, and will buy a lot of units of the game from NIS America.

  • According to Yamashita, Nintendo Switch versions of their games sell twice as well compared to the PlayStation 4 versions.

  • Disgaea 5 Complete has sold under just 200k units just in the West, and Yamashita credits this to the portability factor of the Nintendo Switch.

  • After Ys VIII’s localization troubles, Costa states that they reevaluated their whole localization team and the entire process, and that he’s pretty confident that not only is something like that not going to happen again, the localization team will be able to maintain a high level of quality.

SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy will be available for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 on September 7, 2018, as well as arcades in Japan. Physical copies of the PlayStation 4 version of SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy will only be available via the Diamond Dream Edition, with the standard edition being a PlayStation Store digital exclusive. When it comes to the Nintendo Switch, people will be able to get a physical copy via a standard edition or Diamond Dream Edition.
