Within these two days there has been a lot of ground breaking news for the virtual console. Two retro games only released in Japan are going international. SNK confirming Neo-Geo games for North America. Now it’s Japan’s turn for groundbreaking news, Turbo Duo games (i.e. Turbo Grafix-16 CD games) are going to pop up on the virtual console starting this year.
Hudson has plans to release ten games by the end of 2007 and bring five more out in 2008. Ys Books I & II and Cho Aniki have been confirmed and will be sold for 800 Wii Points ($8) each. The other 13 games are anyone’s guess, but I wouldn’t be shocked if Tengai Makyou II: Manji Maru and the Dragon Slayer games arrived in the future. While this is great news there is one questionable issue with CD games popping up, the Wii’s internal memory. The usable space is very limited, which means Nintendo either has to let people run games from SD cards or sell an accessory to expand the Wii’s storage space.
