Nintendo Wii Shop Channel Removes Wii Shop Point Purchase Option

Back in September 2017, Nintendo announced that the Wii Shop Channel would be shutting down in 2019. At the same time, Nintendo also announced that Wii Points would become unavailable for purchase starting from March 27, 2018.

The day of reckoning for Wii Points has now come and passed, and Wii Points are now unavailable to choose from the main Wii Shop Channel menu. Here’s the previous Wii Point button for comparison:

Games on Virtual Console and WiiWare can continue to be bought until January 31, 2019, and can still be transferred from Wii to Wii U through the Wii System Transfer until that service also shuts down at an unspecified date.
