Nintendo Thought About Releasing Project Hacker: Awakening In The US

Way back in 2006, Nintendo and Sakura Wars developer Red Entertainment teamed up to make a hacker adventure game called Project Hacker: Awakening. In the game, players step in the shoes of an digital crime fighter, use the bottom screen as a memo pad, and crack computer themed puzzles.

Nintendo never announced Project Hacker: Awakening for North America, but it seems like an American version was in development at some point. In July 2007, about a year after Project Hacker came out in Japan, Nintendo of America filed copyrights for packaging and more interesting a US instruction manual.

All of the copyrights also used a localized name, Project Hacker: Awakening a direct translation of the Japanese title Project Hacker: Kakusei. Since Nintendo created a US instruction booklet and cover art, it seems like they were, at least, considering to release Project Hacker in the states. However, the game never even made it on a release calendar like DS Air (aka Jet Impulse) and Disaster: Day of Crisis. Both titles were canceled for North America, but released in other territories.
