Nintendo World Championships 2017 Announced

Back on June 14, 2015, Nintendo held its second Nintendo World Championships 25 years after the original. Now, on October 7, 2017, another Nintendo World Championships will be held. It will take place in the Manhattan Center’s Grand Ballroom in New York. Finalists will compete in multiple Nintendo games.

The qualifiers for the Nintendo World Championships 2017 will be held in Best Buy stores in August and September. People will play Mario Kart 7 on Nintendo 3DS systems for a chance to fly out and participate in the main event. Kids 12 and under will use Mario in a Standard Kart with Standard Wheels and Super Glider to play through a Time Trial on the Luigi’s Mansion course. People 13 and older will use Bowser in a Standard Kart with Standard Wheels and Super Glider to play through a Time Trial on the Bowser Castle 1 course that originally appeared in the Game Boy Advance Mario Kart game. The people with the highest score in each group from each testing location will be a finalist in the Nintendo World Championships 2017.

 

Here are the dates and locations of the Nintendo World Championships 2017 qualifiers.

  • August 19-20, 2017: 610 Exterior St., Bronx, NY 10451. 10am-7pm Saturday and 11am-5pm Sunday.
  • August 19-20, 2017: 181 Curtner Ave., San Jose, CA 95125. 10am-7pm Saturday and 11am-5pm Sunday.
  • August 26-27, 2017: 3675 Pacific Coast Highway, Torrance, CA 90505. 10am-7pm Saturday and 11am-5pm Sunday.
  • August 26-27, 2017: 2301 Howard St., Evanston, IL 60202. 10am-7pm Saturday and 10am-5pm Sunday.
  • September 2-3, 2017: 9378 N. Central Expressway, Dallas, TX 75231. 10am-7pm Saturday and 11am-5pm Sunday.
  • September 2-3, 2017: 1000 W. 78th St., Richfield, MN 55423. 10am-7pm Saturday and 10am-5pm Sunday.
  • September 9-10, 2017: 4001 W. 20th Ave., Hialeah FL 33012. 10am-7pm Saturday and 10am-5pm Sunday.
  • September 9-10, 2017: 17364 Southcenter Parkway, Tukwila, WA 98188. 10am-7pm Saturday and 11am-5pm Sunday.

 

In addition to the qualifiers, people who attend the event will be able to play Nintendo game demos and get My Nintendo points and pins. All My Nintendo members who check in with their QR code will get 100 Platinum Points and a My Nintendo pin. People who visit will be able to try Metroid: Samus Returns for the Nintendo 3DS and Super Mario Odyssey for the Nintendo Switch.
