Wario Ware: D.I.Y. (short for “do it yourself”) lets you make and share microgames on your Nintendo DS. In addition to an ocean of user created content, Nintendo got a few luminary designers to craft microgames for WarioWare: D.I.Y.
Downloadble over Nintendo Wi-Fi microgames under the Big Name Games label will be released weekly starting on March 29 and until July 26. Developers part of the promotion include Studio Pixel (Cave Story), Gaijin Games, 5th Cell, WayForward, and Team Meat. All Big Name Games content as well as all DLC for WarioWare: D.I.Y is free.
The first two microgames on March 29 come from Yoshio Sakamoto and Masahiro Sakurai known for Tomodachi Collection and Super Smash Brothers, respectively. Sakamoto’s microgame is based on Metroid, another series he’s known for. We played Sakurai’s microgame way back in June 2009, shortly after WarioWare: D.I.Y. made its debut in Japan. In it you chop watermelons in half and cut bomb fuses. Curious to see what Daisuke Amaya is going to make. A Cave Story tribute would be fitting since the game was just released on WiiWare a few hours ago.
