Square Enix shared the latest on Dragon Quest XI with a feature on monster riding in the latest issue of Jump magazine, featuring a look at some mounts that will come in handy during your adventure. [Thanks, GameKana.]
As a Dragon Rider, it’ll help get to areas you can’t reach on foot.
The Skull Rider is a mount that will let you walk on cliffsides or dungeon walls. There will also be areas in dungeons and such that will only be accessible with a Skull Rider.
We also got a look at two new monsters. The “Pearlmobile” on the left is said to be a mysterious machine made of some kind of pearl-like metal. It attacks with paralyzing gas. The one with the bee is, well, “Bee Rider,” and it’s an elite Ocobolt mounted on a giant bee. It specializes in stinger and spear attacks.
Additionally, you can ride Pearlmobile to perform super high jumps to reach higher platforms. The Bee Rider will help you fly over lakes as a mount.
Dragon Quest XI releases in Japan on July 29 for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo 3DS. The game is also in development for Nintendo Switch. Check out our previous report for a look at the game’s latest screenshots on the Zone and Co-op Skills feature.
