Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia is set to release in just over a week, and Nintendo Treehouse’s official log over on Tumblr has shared a new post in which they delve deeper into the game’s battle system.
In Fire Emblem Echoes, players take control over two separate armies in parallel, with each featuring a unique bunch of characters and classes. Unlike in most of the modern Fire Emblem games, changing classes in Echoes doesn’t work the same. Instead of using “seals,” players will have to change the class of a certain character by visiting a Mila idol found at key locations or inside of dungeons. Additionally, Echoes does not use the weapons triangle like recent titles in the series.
When it comes to abilities in Echoes, equipping certain items for a long enough time will teach characters Combat Arts. Once learned, these special abilities will be able to be used in battle, though only while the character has the particular item currently equipped. In addition, Echoes does not use the weapon durability system like some other titles in the series, so your equipment won’t break after being used over time.
Lastly, the Treehouse Log shared a few pieces of concept art from the game, featuring artwork of the Priestess class, a Paladin’s mount, and some weapons.
