While Goku is the star of Dragon Ball: Origins 2, you get to control other characters. Yamcha, Krillin, and Bulma are playable too. Game Republic changed the game’s camera and made it situation-based. Usually, the game is presented with an overhead view, but during key boss battles it switches to a side view so Dragon Ball: Origins 2 feels like a fighting game.

Dragon Ball: Origins 2 also has a local cooperative mode. Players can team up with a friend and take on multiplayer missions. Extra co-op stages and battles can be unlocked by playing through the Red Ribbon Army story.

The Japanese version, Dragon Ball DS 2: Assault! Red Ribbon Army, came with Dragon Ball: Shen Long’s Mystery, a Famicom game hidden as an in-game bonus. Dragon Ball: Shen Long’s Mystery was released in the US, butchered as Dragon Power. This feature wasn’t mentioned in the announcement so it’s unclear if Namco Bandai is saving this as a surprise or it got cut.

Namco Bandai has Dragon Ball: Origins 2 slated for release this summer.
