We’ve gone over all the ways Exist Archive: The Other Side of the Sky is like Valkyrie Profile before. The two games have something else in common. Exist Archive: The Other Side of the Sky is also a game with multiple paths. While there is one true, good ending, there are two others that offer additional takes. Each one of the three shows us a different side to Kanata and can be quite interesting experiences. Fortunately, it differs from Valkyrie Profile in a very important way. The endings in Exist Archive: The Other Side of the Sky are honestly rather easy to earn.

Endings in Exist Archive: The Other Side of the Sky are determined by two things. The first is the number of black crystals you give to Amatsume, while the other is a choice you make in the game’s tenth chapter. If you turn in two black crystals, your future is decided for you and you’re locked into what we’ll refer to as ending A. You are guaranteed an ending that takes away the  item creation options in the post game. While I do recommend seeing this once, as it is an interesting take on the resolution and gives you a new speedrun, I do not recommend doing it the first time.

Only give Amatsume a single black crystal. It will, however, unlock a new mode called Greed Mode. Greed Mode is pretty great for both exploration and grinding. (Which is exactly what you want in a game that encourages both things.) You’ll move much faster in areas when you unlock this option, as well as know you’ll always have chain battles. This does change some event dialogue later on, so if you’re a completionist, maybe make a save before giving her a single black crystal?

Now, here’s where Exist Archive: The Other Side of the Sky really helps you out. As I mentioned earlier, chapter 10 gives you an opportunity to make a decision. Kanata will be provided three choices, which I’m not going to list because of spoilers. The game will actually ask you if you want to save the game after choosing this mission from the quest list. Make this a separate save. You can use this as a branching-off point for all three endings. Choose the first or second response for ending B and the third response for ending C.  Immediately after this point, you can give a second black crystal after the choice to lock into the aforementioned ending A, if you’d like.

Exist Archive: The Other Side of the Sky ending B is a good one to go for on your first playthrough. After selecting one of the two choices that puts you on this path, you’ll be able to start sending party members back to earth. In exchange for doing so, everyone you didn’t send back ends up getting stat boosts. With this ending, you get different dialogue depending on whether or not you gave any black crystals or not, as well as who’s in your party. This means you’ll see some different events if everyone is or isn’t with Kanata at the end.

If you go with ending C, it will not let you return souls of your party members back to Earth, but everyone will become stronger in return. The only downside to this ending is that everyone’s affections drop after the game ends. Since dungeon clear progress, exploration rate, field abilities, and key items are the only things that don’t carry over in Exist Archive: The Other Side of the Sky new game plus files, I suggest leaving this one for last, as everyone’s affection levels are reset after this ending, which can influence post-game grinding and character building.

There are many ways Exist Archive: The Other Side of the Sky can go. Fortunately, you have ample opportunities to plan ahead and make the right decision. You won’t have any trouble getting any of the three endings available. Just remember to stop back after beating the game once, either in a new game plus or post-game file, so you can go through the extra dungeon and recruit its three bonus characters.
