It was previously reported that Square Enix is entering the pachislot business, but after a rather interesting turn of events, the company that sent out the fax claiming so has updated with a correction and apology.
“In the document, it was stated that Square Enix is entering the pachinko/pachislot business,” but this is not a fact,” stated Fields in their press release.
“Again, we used the Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy logos without permission, which resulted in a misunderstanding from our company and our services.”
The development planning, stocks, and sales company Field Corps deeply apologizes for any misunderstandings that have resulted from their information dispatch.
Keep in mind that this doesn’t mean that Square Enix isn’t entering the pachislot business, and it could be seen as a statement from Field after having jumped the gun and made the “announcement” before the company itself. In any case, it’s still better to take this by the grain of salt until we hear official word from Square Enix. As Hachima pointed out in their article, Lord of Vermilion appears to still be confirmed to get a pachislot machine, and it really doesn’t sound too surprising to hear about other Square Enix titles being turned into pachislot games, seeing how common it is these days.
