Falcom has shared the latest on their upcoming action RPG Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana with an introduction of two new characters Miralda and and Reya, along with details on the Extra Skill system.
Miralda (CV: Erina Tanaka)
An optimistic woman who helps out at her husband’s restaurant in the Greek region. While she may just look like a regular young beauty, she’s actually a 32-year-old mother of six children. She’s excellent at all types of different housework, and after having been drifted ashore, she used her favorite kitchen knife for survival. She will put her cooking skills to use in order to feed the hungry castaways with some of her creations.
Reya (CV: Hidemi Anzai)
Reya is an 11-year-old troublemaker boy with a bit of a precocious way of speaking, and he happens to be the hair of the rich Dior family from Greek. He stuck close to his father and crossed over to Xandaria, but decided to return ahead of time and boarded the The Lombardia on his own. After the ship sank, he managed to stay alive by hanging onto the livestock Pikkard that were on the ship, then arrived to Siren Island.
On the Drifting Village, Dogi pretty much forces him to do work by taking care of the Pikkard and crops, so it’ll be interesting to see Reya doing work knowing the type of background he comes from.
Extra Skill
While in battle, each time you hit with a regular attack it’ll start filling up the “Extra Gauge,” which can then be used to pull off an ultimate attack called the “Extra Skill.” Each character has their own Extra Skill ability.
These attacks consist of super powerful attacks that cover quite the large area, but using it will make the gauge go back to 0, so you’ll want to be careful on the timing of when you use it.
Here’s a look at some Extra Skills:
Adol: Excalibur
Brings out a huge aura from his sword that is several times its length, allowing Adol to go on a rampage with all of his power and extra range.
Glimmering Ice Blade Dance
A spin-attack using her crescent blades to take out enemies. Afterwards, huge icicles appear from mid-air and are then used to continuously strike down enemies in wide range.
Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana will release in Japan on July 21, 2016 for PlayStation Vita. The PlayStation 4 version will release in 2017. You can check out our earlier report for a look at the game’s latest trailer, showing off more of its story, dual protagonists, and gameplay.
