Playtonic Games has released a substantial Yooka-Laylee update, offering details about the Toybox demo and full game. To start, everyone who pledged at least £20 (about $32/€28) during the Kickstarter campaign will get early access to the Toybox sandbox demo in July 2016. This will be larger than the originally envisioned product and offer special props, collectibles, and secrets.

Details about the reason why Yooka and Laylee are adventuring, as well as some specifics about additional NPCs and gameplay, were also discussed in the update. Yooka-Laylee begins with Quack Corp being acquired by Capital B’s Diabolical Publishing Corporation. He’s going to use the company for nefarious endeavors, and Yooka and Laylee head out to get Pagies so they can unlock Hivory Towers’ Grand Tomes and keep Capital B from turning books into profit.

Pagies aren’t the only things Yooka and Laylee will be collecting. Tasty Butterfly Energy refills the duo’s health and power meter. Trowzer will also sell them new moves in exchange for Quills.

Capital B and Trowser aren’t Yooka-Laylee’s only new characters. They’ll also encounter Dr. Quack and Dr. Puzz. Dr. Quack was head of Quack Corp and Dr. Puzz’s mentor before the takeover, which has left him jaded. He’s forced to create new devices for Capital B. Dr. Puzz, on the other hand, left after the takeover and is using her brain and abilities to create new transformations for Yooka and Laylee to use on their quest.

Yooka-Laylee’s estimated PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Wii U, and PC launch window is October 2016.
