The major announcement at Sony’s press conference is they have a new PSP model, the PSP-2000. It’s lighter (33%!), slimmer (19%!) and more importantly it can output video and audio to a regular TV. Two packages are scheduled to come out:
An entertainment bundle with an Ice Silver PSP (pictured), Daxter, 1GB Memory Stick Pro DUO and the Family Guy Freakin Sweet collection on UMD for $199.
The other bundle is a limited edition Star Wars Battlefront PSP-2000 with Darth Vader on the back for $199.
Sony is also going to release a standalone PSP-2000 in Piano Black at an unannounced price.
The PSP Slim does not have a hard drive, but the video out port might make it worth picking up. Games like Final Fantasy Tactics: The Lion War are probably better enjoyed on a large screen while lounging on a couch.
Past the break is a photo of Chewbacca introducing the Star Wars PSP-2000 with SCEA president Jack Tretton.
