Novelsphere is a website for people who want to play visual novels in their browsers on their PCs or smartphones, without having to worry about downloading their game. However, since its 2014 launch, the site has only offered Japanese language games. That changed this week, when Blue* was added as Novelsphere’s first English language game.
People who visit Novelsphere can now play Blue* for free. However, the nature of this version does have some limitations. There is no way to save your progress in Blue*, set text to automatically advance, or skip over text.
In addition to the launch of Blue*, Novelsphere has released the SDK for creating games for its distribution platform for free. It can be found on the Downloads section of the site, and an account is required to access it.
The translation of Blue* isn’t new. The all-ages game, about the mysteries surrounding the death of a poet named Asagiri Sou, was translated by Kuoee into English in 2015. This kinetic visual novel was previously only available on Windows PCs, but is available on all PC and smartphone platforms through Novelsphere.
