Bandai Namco recently announced the latest of their strategy RPG mecha series with Super Robot Taisen OG: The Moon Dwellers, and this week’s issue of Famitsu magazine provides us with more info on the game. [Thanks, Hachima.]
Here are some details on characters and units:
- Granteed: The robot controlled by Touya Shun, and with support from either Katia Grineal or Melua Melna Meia.
- Touya Shun: The protagonist of the game. Throws himself into battle upon meeting Granteed.
- Katia Grineal and Melua Melna Meia: Girls that arrive piloting Granteed.
- Soul Saber FF: A prototype model that was made for mass-production by Mogami Industries.
- Akimi Akatsuki: The son of Mogami Industries’ president. He attends the same school as Touya.
- Soul Saber GG: A prototype model that was made for mass-production by Mogami Industries.
- Akemi Akatsuki: Akimi’s twin sister. She takes care of her impulsive brother.
- Exbein Boxer Type R
- Exbein Boxer Type L
- G-Compatible Kaiser
The game will let you start out with “Beginner Mode,” which makes it easier by giving you more currency and upgrade parts.
Next is a look at some notes from an interview with the producer:
- This is the first part of Super Robot Taisen’s 25th anniversary. While he couldn’t share more, he said that they have other plans in the works other than this game.
- Super Robot Taisen J’s other protagonist Calvina Coulange will appear as an partner unit.
- Granteed will be very different this time around, and also exclusive to Touya.
- Super Robot Taisen GC’s protagonists appear as twins. The Real Robot that’s not Soul Saber (Soul Gunner?) won’t appear in the game.
- The game splits into two routes right after the start. One has Touya and the other Calvina. New players can have an easier time by starting out with Touya’s route.
- The routes aren’t related to the SR Point.
- The development staff put in a lot of work for the battle scenes and special moves, that are said to be quite something this time around. Especially with Touya on Ganteed with Katia or Melua as the sub-pilots, along with another girl named Tenia (Festenia Muse,) it’s safe to assume that this could be the most voluminous of the entire series.
Super Robot Taisen OG: The Moon Dwellers will release in Japan in 2016 for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3. Its development is currently at 70% complete.
