The Aquatic Adventure of the Last Human. You pretty much know what you’re getting with a title like that. If you deduced from it that you 1) Play as the last human, 2) Are stuck under the ocean, and 3) Probably have to battle large fish, well, you were spot on.
Available to buy on Steam on January 19th, The Aquatic Adventure of the Last Human pixel-style, side-scrolling, underwater action-adventure in which you explore the ruins at the bottom of the ocean that are left of our species in hopes of finding out what led to our downfall.
It’s a game of two beats. First off, you’ll be steadily exploring the ocean floor, chilling out among the seaweed and tropical colors of the coral, picking up story hints through the environment. But then some thing’s large maw will try to eat you whole and the game switches to a frantic battle with a humongous fish.
The back story here, by the way, is that humans were forced to live underwater due to climate change and the rising seas. Much later, around the year 2971, sub-aquatic spaceships were sent into a nearby wormhole to find a habitable planet for humanity. None returned except one.
You are that one survivor, who came back through the wormhole to discover that millions of years had passed, and now humanity is extinct. Oh, and as mentioned, the fish got really big too. I wouldn’t trust those glowing lights in the dark if I were you…
