With the release of Odin Sphere: Leifthrasir just a week away in Japan, Atlus still had a couple new tricks up their sleeve with two new game modes, which they demonstrated in their latest video.
“Xtra New Game” appears upon clearing the game once, which lets you choose a data and go back to the very beginning of any data with your parameters and items from the data. This allows you to go back to the beginning with a harder difficulty.
At the 2:20 mark, we get to see how there’s added difficulty of “Hell,” which will be available from the start of the game and not restricted to the Extra New Game. In this mode, you’ll be restricted to a very low amount of health with only 200 HP.
On your second playthrough, if you didn’t level up enough in normal mode, it’ll be pretty difficult with all the tough monsters. You’ll also get to see some new monsters in the second playthrough.
At the 8:38 mark they show us a demonstration of the new “Boss Rush” mode. This mode lets you pick any character you wont to take on a variety of mid-rank bosses in a special stage, for a total of 30 rounds. All the bosses here will be at level 50 and there won’t be any checkpoints, nor will it let you use item boxes in the fight.
Odin Sphere: Leifthrasir will release in Japan on January 14, 2016 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation Vita.
