Satoshi Kitade, a Square Enix programmer working on Final Fantasy XV, shared a pre-beta update concerning the game’s progress on the official forums. Kitade is working on improving the environments of the game and had two updates to share on the pre-beta build of Final Fantasy XV.
The first point had to do with the current state of Final Fantasy XV. Kitade said that it was nearly possible to play from the beginning to end on the pre-beta build. Developers could go through almost the entire game. The current task was to do some polishing and fine tuning to make sure all of the details are covered, now that the generalities are in place, so it lives up to Square Enix’s high standards. Optimization is the current objective.
Kitade also pointed out that the first half of Final Fantasy XV’s pre-beta build looked and played at a retail copy level. The team will be using that to help get an idea of how the completed game should look and play, now that it’s halfway done. Square Enix has even had external testers come in to play it at their own pace, so the developers could get a better idea of what people may want or need in terms of pacing.
Final Fantasy XV has a 2016 release window for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
