The Magikarp is pretty durable in Pokemon. The fish are absolutely everywhere and seem to thrive in any environment. They’re built to take punishment, as they wait for the day when they can finally get revenge as Gyrados. Unfortunately, that day will never come in Fallout 4, as a mod shows they didn’t quite survive nuclear warfare.

OhFluffy’s Magikarp Fallout 4 mod offers a new texture for dead fish. It turns them into Magikarp. Which is sad, because obviously these Pokemon fainted and no one had a Revive ready to save them. But then, maybe it’s a little satisfying to see after all of the years when we’ve caught Magikarp in Pokemon games while fishing for something better?

You can install the Magikarp Fallout 4 mod with the Nexus Mod Manager. It supports the game and could make adding the alternative texture easy by using the program to do all the dirty work. It’s also possible to add it in yourself, by putting the texture folder from the .zip file into Fallout 4/data and altering the Fallout4.ini file in the Fallout4 folder so it says “sResourceDataDirsFinal=STRINGS\, TEXTURES\” instead of “sResourceDataDirsFinal=STRINGS\.”
