I recently learned about Poupeegirl, which lets you create and customize an avatar, from some friends. A few minutes after joining, I noticed an interesting ad in the upper right corner, proclaiming that a Poupeegirl DS game is on the way.
Poupeegirl DS sounds like it is going to be practically identical to the PC community and game. You create a Poupeegirl character, then go about earning ribbons to purchase new clothing and accessories to dress her up. You can also play mini-games and interact with other characters in the game. However, the DS game isn’t going to be as accessible as the Poupeegirl website.
While there are still some untranslated sections at Poupeegirl, a large portion of the site is available in English, and people worldwide are welcome to register. You can buy clothes for your avatar using either jewels or ribbons. To get jewels though, you have to pay real money or join sponsor sites. To earn ribbons, you can dress up your character, take pictures of your clothes and accessories and post them to the site, make friends with other Poupeegirl users or sell virtual clothing items you no longer need.
It comes out December 17, 2009. Play-Asia’s going to carry it, though that site has it listed as Poupee Girl DS and doesn’t mention if it will include the code for the Poupeegirl website item and LCD cleaner strap like Amazon.co.jp will. Also, Amazon is throwing in a tote bag.
Personally, I think that if you’ve been a member of the website for a month or so, you’ll have little trouble playing the game. It looks pretty similar. So, any Siliconera readers also members of Poupeegirl?
