United Arab Emirates developer Alter Ego Productions has announced its co-op Japanese-style RPG Grim Hearts for iOS and Android (thanks IndieGames).

It follows a newlywed couple, Adam and Farah, as they are pulled into a dark world ruled by a deadly overlord who, for some reason, makes a habit of summoning couples. When they arrive in his world he then drains them of their sanity.

Alter Ego says that Grim Hearts is meant to be played by couples who will need to test their relationship to get through the game. And, despite it looking like a Japanese-style RPG, the team adds that Grim Hearts “actually addresses a lot of cultural issues and relationship problems in the Arab world.”
