Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn To Launch In South Korea This Month

Square Enix and Eyedentity Mobile held in event in Seoul, South Korea, to announce that Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn will officially launch this month. 4Gamer details their schedule and payment plans.

 

Square Enix president Matsuda Yosuke attended the event and expressed his satisfaction of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn’s South Korean launch. He mentioned that a global business is of utmost importance to his company, and that he hopes for a close partnership between them and Eyedentity Mobile.

 

Eydentity Mobile president Sung Gon Bae spoke during the presentation and announced that the early access will begin in South Korea on August 14th,and the official service will launch sometime later this month.

 

Similar to Japan, South Korea will have payment plans of 30 days, 90 days, or shorter periods of 5 and 30 hours, which works out better for those who play at cyber cafes. Here are the prices:

 

  • 5 hours: 3,300 Won ($2.79 USD)
  • 30 hours: 13,200 Won ($11.16 USD)
  • 30 days: 19,800 Won ($16.75 USD)
  • 90 days: 47,500 Won ($40.18 USD)

 

Producer Naoki Yoshida also made an appearance to discuss the schedule for the service. It will begin with the 2.2 version update, which featured the Crystal Towers and The Binding Coil of Bahamut.

 

In October, South Korea will get the 2.3 update with big features like Syrcus Tower, housing, and PvP. And in December, they’ll add the 2.4 update, which introduced the Rogue class and Ninja job.

 

Sung Gon Bae said that he understands Japanese online games are not often successful in the South Korean market, but with the latest title of a traditional series in Final Fantasy XIV, and its high-quality content and quick updates, along with its stable management, he’s made it their goal to aim for 100,000 subscribers for the game from South Korea.
