Bringing all of Japan under your rule in Koei Tecmo’s Nobunaga’s Ambition: Sphere of Influence doesn’t have to be a violent affair. People can use Diplomacy to strategically influence other characters both positively and negatively. Now, we have a better idea of how such affairs will look with 15 new screenshots shared on Twitter.
The screenshots highlight a number of core Diplomacy mechanics in Nobunaga’s Ambition: Sphere of Influence. Positive reinforcement methods include giving gifts, arranging marriages, building ties in the community by allying with clans and tribes, working with other lords, and paying homage at court to earn nobility titles that can be gift or given to subordinates. All of these actions could make people love you and, in some cases, may make tribes or clans bolster your ranks by eventually become part of your own.
They also show the darker side of Diplomacy. Deciding to employ spies and carry out covert operations can cause your opponents’ supporters to desert them or let you know what moves they’re planning to make so you can take action first. Make enough enticing offers and you could see your foes’ ranks dwindle.
Nobunaga’s Ambition: Sphere of Influence will come to North American PlayStation 3s, PlayStation 4s, and PCs on September 1. Europe will see the the game three days later on September 4.
