Mixi’s popular mobile RPG title Monster Strike is headed to the Nintendo 3DS and also getting an anime in Japan. This week’s issue of Famitsu magazine shares some new details on the game.
The magazine report shows that the upcoming 3DS game will have full 3D fields to explore. Its characters and story will be based on the anime that is scheduled to begin airing on YouTube this October.
You can check out the show’s first trailer below:
Last year, it was revealed that Monster Strike had been downloaded 13 million times in Japan and Taiwan, and the numbers are likely much higher now that it’s been released in the West on smartphone.
The game is still one of the most popular smartphone titles in Japan, and this will be a big opportunity for the franchise to expand its horizons and attract new fans, similar to how Puzzle & Dragons did with their Nintendo 3DS title Puzzle & Dragons Z, which release in the West recently along side the Super Mario Bros. Edition.
While we still don’t have too many details as far gameplay for Monster Strike on 3DS, the magazine shows its 3D fields and mentions that there will be quests, so it sounds like it’ll be an RPG title. More details on the game and its monsters will be revealed in a future update.
Monster Strike will release in Japan sometime in 2015 for Nintendo 3DS.
