While Sony was quiet about Folklore, they didn’t even mention High Velocity Bowling, one of their first party downloadable games. It was pushed into a dark corner (no joke!) next to a facial mocap demonstration away from the center where people lined up to play Heavenly Sword and Lair. It’s a little bit of a shame that High Velocity Bowling didn’t get as much attention because it cleverly uses the Sixaxis controller. You hold the controller with one hand and swing upwards, as if you were in a bowling with a physical ball. Yeah, it is a lot like Wii Sports bowling with a hipster style. Even though holding the controller with one hand is awkward at first, High Velocity Bowling captures the feel of bowling without any problems. The other thing I liked about High Velocity Bowling is the title demonstrates Sony is experimenting with ways of using the Sixaxis controller beyond moving the camera and as a flight stick.
