Dorasu is adding a title to the long list of PlayStation Vita music games, but their game is different from Hatsune Miku: Project Diva and other anime rhythm games.

Hideboh Tap Dance Hero takes place in the near future where the world watches break dancing and hip-hop moves. Tap dancing is out of fashion, but a mysterious man with futuristic sunglasses (most likely an avatar of Japanese tap dancing star Hideboh who the game is named after) wants to make tap dancing popular again. He finds a Stan, a shy boy who wants to dance, but doesn’t know how and teaches him how to tap. You also have Airi, a girl from a rich family who has been studying tap dancing, and Damerobo, a tap dancing robot, on your team who aim to be the world’s tap dancing champions. There’s a rival team with fly (a boy) and flow (a girl) who have their own tap dancing robot called A.K.730.

Hideboh Tap Dance Hero has notes that you tap when a light lines up with a shoe icon. This is standard for a rhythm game, but Dorasu tried to incorporate some tap dancing elements to the system. There are regular shoe notes where you can tap anywhere, toe notes where you tap the toe, and heel notes where you tap the icons heel. Players can also unlock videos of Hideboh tap dancing by playing through the title.

Hideboh Tap Dance Hero comes out this Thursday in Japan, but it probably won’t get a lot of attention since it doesn’t have Vocaloid songs or an anime tie up. All of the music in the game is original, but still the concept alone and tap dancing robots make it an interesting game to take note of.
