Fatal Frame: The Black Haired Shrine Maiden will release in just a couple more days in Japan and Koei Tecmo announced a last minute surprise in this week’s issue of Famitsu. The magazine revealed that Dead or Alive’s kunoichi Ayane, will be playable in the Wii U game.

According to the magazine report, Ayane will appear in the game as a playable character who will set foot into the Hikami mountain. However, you will need to unlock Ayane by beating the game first.

After unlocking Ayane, you’ll get to play as her and go through her special scenario, where she’s been requested to go find a missing girl. However, the catch with Ayane is that she can’t defeat spirits like the main protagonist, so she’ll need to rely on sneaking around.

While sneaking around, she can get caught and attacked by the spirits, so she’ll need to use a special script that helps her hide, and if she finds herself in an even worse situation, she has a Spirit Stone torch that can temporarily stun and knock away enemies.

Ayane will have a special “Purple Thread” that glows and will lead her to the missing girl. While not much is known about her story, it is said that she goes into an abandoned structure where she gets herself hurt, but manages to escape. From there, she’ll have to continue looking for this girl.

As for this mysterious missing girl, her name is Tsumugi Katashina, who seems to have a complex with her family who ignored her while they took good care of her half-sister. She’s not great with people and actually tried to kill herself, but decided to go to Hikami Mountain after the failed attempt, where she was spirited away.

Fatal Frame: The Black Haired Shrine Maiden will release in Japan on September 27, 2014 for Wii U.
