Speaking with Edge magazine, Xenoblade Chronicles X executive producer Tetsuya Takahashi touched upon how the RPG will make use of the Wii U GamePad.
“We decided that it would be perfect to use as a navigation device, in the same way that a lot of tablet computers are,” Takahashi said, according to a quote pulled by Nintendo Everything.
“We’ve put some important features relating to the game system and your objectives onto the GamePad, so I feel that this should create a very user-friendly experience for players.”
It appears that Takahashi did not specify whether or not you would be able to play Xenoblade Chronicles X using Off-TV Play with the GamePad. Hopefully, that’s a feature the team doesn’t neglect to include.
Xenoblade Chronicles X is scheduled for release in 2015 on the Wii U. Meanwhile, the original Xenoblade Chronicles is headed to the New Nintendo 3DS.
