Major Nelson is the voice of Xbox Live in the US and most English speaking countries. He has a lot of reach, but due to language barriers he can’t be the Xbox spokesperson for, say, Taiwan. So, Taiwan is getting their own figurehead — an Xbox Angel.
Microsoft’s Xbox division in Taiwan is holding an open casting call for the position . To join the search you have to be a loquacious female, over 18, and play an Xbox 360 for at least 360 minutes per week. Four semi-finalists will be selected by a panel of judges. Afterwards, the Xbox Angel will be chosen by the Internet on August 18.
The winner gets a role as an Xbox ambassador, which means promoting the Xbox 360 over social network services like Facebook, hosting Xbox Live events, and writing a column. On top of exposure, the Xbox Angel gets showered with gifts including an Xbox 360, three month Xbox Live subscription card, games, and a 35,000 NT stipend for three months of work (appx. $1090).
It’s too early to tell who the first Xbox Angel will be, but based on clicks “Rabby” and “Mini” are getting the most attention. “Rabby” is on the left and “Mini” is on the right.
