In a recent interview with Monster Hunter 4 producer Ryozo Tsujimoto and director Kaname Fujioka, Famitsu asked what weapons younger Monster Hunter players prefer to use.

“There are a lot that use the Insect Glaive,” Tsujimoto replied. “In the past, weapons such as Great Sword and Dual Swords were popular. [However] it seems younger folks prefer the ones with more functions.”

“While we want people to use all kinds of weapons, the Insect Glaive, which has numerous functions and makes it easy to aim for breakable parts, seems like it was made to be easily adaptable for current players,” added Fujioka.

In the past, Tsujimoto has also discussed the popularity of different weapons with Siliconera. Speaking with us last year, he shared that the Great Sword and Long Sword were the most popular weapons among Japanese players at the time, whereas the Dual Swords have always been popular specifically among female players.
