As reported this past Monday, Blackmore is an upcoming point-and-click adventure game being created by a team of developers that were involved with Konami’s Snatcher, including Jeremy Blaustein, who was involved with the English-language translation of that game and Satoshi Yoshioka, who was involved as a character designer.
Now, the Blackmore development team—which calls itself iQiOi—have shown off the game’s two main characters, Emma Blackmore and Descartes.
Emma Honda-Blackmore is a pioneering medical doctor and gifted inventor that serves the poor and needy residents of the East London slums. Descartes is her robot companion, built by her late father, Simon Blackmore. Like her father, Emma has a gift for inventing things, and also for utilizing forensic techniques to solve crimes.
Additionally, character designer Satoshi Yoshioka has posted a video message for fans, discussing the characters of Blackmore. Yoshioka points out that Emma’s fashion sense is Victorian, but with hints of a kimono pattern on her leggings. This is presumably partly because Emma’s mother is Japanese. You can view the video above. (Turn captions on to view it with English subtitles.)
Blackmore is in development for PC and Mac. Console stretch goals for the game will be shared at a later date.
