Cave will release Deathsmiles in April which has Deathsmiles and Deathsmiles ver. 1.1. The home version doesn’t include Deathsmiles: Mega Black Label, a revision with a new character and level released in arcades this past October. Think of it like Street Fighter II: Championship Edition to Street Fighter II.

Deathsmiles: Mega Black Label was sold as a separate board to arcade operators. Sometime after Deathsmiles comes out on the Xbox 360 Cave will distribute Deathsmiles: Mega Black Label as a 1,400 Microsoft Point ($17.50) piece of downloadable content. This is better than selling the upgrade as a separate game, but what do you think about Cave’s strategy?

This summer we’re going to see an influx of arcade ports like BlazBlue and the King of Fighters XII. Would you be happy paying $10 or $15 for the latest arcade revision that adds a few fighters and rebalances the game one year later?
