J-Stars Victory Vs. is a two vs. two fighting game. Although battles can become two vs. one if you defeat a fighter. You set up a team, but only directly control one character. The computer controls your partner.

 

Basic attacks chain up into combos and you can do power attacks if you have enough meter. This meter is shared among the team and when all three segments are full you can do an ultimate attack. Special attacks can be comboed one after another. A scan shows Goku firing a Kamehameha in mid-air and then Naruto using a Rasenshuriken.
