Yesterday, Team Ninja revealed that a freemium version of Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate will be released in Japan on the PlayStation 3. Today, they’ve shared that this version of the game is also headed to the West.

Titled Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate: Core Fighters, the free game will be available on the PlayStation Store from September 3rd in the U.S. and September 9th in Europe. Like in Japan, the Core Fighters pack will include four playable characters—Kasumi, Ayane, Ryu Hayabuse, and Hayate.

All four will be selectacle in every mode, except for Story Mode, which will be a separate purchase. Using the free version, you’ll even be able to play multiplayer matches against both other Core Fighters players, as well as those that own the full version of Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate.

Once you’ve got the free version, you’ll be able to buy characters individually for $3.99 each.  Story Mode will cost another $14.99. Those prices are for North America. Prices for Europe have not yet been decided. You can find more info on the U.S. version here and the European version here.

Team Ninja also mention that, while the game is currently only planned for PlayStation 3, fans should “check back for updates about a possible Xbox 360 version”.
