Spike Chunsoft has a unique business model. They act as an external developer and make the yearly Dragon Ball Z fighting games. They also make original games like Zero Escape: Virtue’s Last Reward, Way of the Samurai, and Super Danganronpa 2. What you may not know is Spike Chunsoft is one the largest publishers of Western games in Japan.

Dragon Age II, The Witcher 2, Dead Island, Darksiders II, and Metro: Last Light are all Spike Chunsoft games in Japan. Spike Chunsoft also picked up Terraria, a 2D mining game from indie developer Re-Logic. Instead of releasing it as a PlayStation Network title like it was distributed in North America, Terraria will be released on PSN and as a retail game in Japan. The disc version costs 4,179 yen ($42) and the PSN download is 3,300 yen ($33). Terraria comes out in Japan on May 23.
