Indie Game Intermission: ClickBeat – Open source Ouendan for the PC

This article is over 17 years old and may contain outdated information

Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan or better known as Elite Beat Agents outside of Japan was a novel concept made by Inis and Nintendo where you hit bubbles on the beat with the stylus. After seeing the game two developers re-created the game for the PC as ClickBeat. It’s not exactly the same game as Elite Beat Agents since it’s missing the rolling balls, the spinning wheel and most importantly the funny stories. Ok, so ClickBeat strips away everything except clicking numbered bubbles on the beat. But it’s a work in progress, a work for the Elite Beat Agents fans that is the equivalent of Stepmania to the Dance Dance Revolution community. Anyone can make scripts for the game and there is already a homemade script with Frog’s theme (the Frog from Chrono Trigger) online. Some of the original music is pretty good too, Space Travel is my choice for my favorite song. It’s loungy and I like that sort of thing. Now who out there is going to make a set of scripts with RJD2? “Since We Last Spoke” and “1976” would be awesome songs to use.
