Dark Souls Ships Over Two Million Copies Worldwide

Dark Souls was a big hit for FromSoftware and Namco Bandai, which released the tactical action RPG in the West.

In Japan, Dark Souls was a PlayStation 3 exclusive and 375,000 units were shipped. Dark Souls moved 1,300,000 units in the West where the game was released for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

 

An additional 137,000 units of Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition for PC and PS3 shipped in Japan. Namco Bandai shipped 555,000 units of Prepare to Die edition in North America and Europe. While the Artorias of the Abyss content was only available as DLC in North America, Namco Bandai re-released Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition as a retail game for PS3 and Xbox 360 in Europe.

 

Altogether, Dark Souls shipped 2,367,000 units worldwide. Dark Souls II is in development for PlayStation 3, PC, and Xbox 360 (even in Japan this time). For more about the sequel, check out our interview with Yui Tanimura.
