After updating Lord of Vermilion II with dozens of crossover characters, Square Enix is finally releasing a sequel on new arcade hardware. Lord of Vermilion III is a trading card game where you collect and use monster cards. After placing cards on the cabinet you control familiars using the touch screen. Monsters are split into five different races (like beast or undead) and three types (attacker, magician, defender).
The rules have changed in Lord of Vermilion III. Instead of 1 vs. 1 battles, the arcade game has fights with up to eight players. Multiplayer battles are 4 vs. 4 fights and if you destroy the opposing team’s Arcana Stone you win.
Lord of Vermilion III is slated for release in summer 2013. If you’re a hardcore Lord of Vermilion Re:2 player, Square Enix has a way to import your data, but all of the Lord of Vermilion Re:2 cards are incompatible with the sequel.
