A new Batman: Arkham game is slated for release this year, Warner Bros. confirmed in a recent investor call, as part of the company’s earnings report. A full transcript of the call can be found at Yahoo! Finance (thanks, VG247).
“And we also have a strong games release this year, which will include the next release in the Batman: Arkham franchise,” Chief Financial Office, John K. Martin shared during the call.
While Martin refers to the new game as part of the Arkham series, just how it’s connected to Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City remains to be seen. Last year, a Variety magazine rumour suggested that the third game in the series would be a prequel set in the Silver Age of DC Comics.
Additionally, in August, Paul Dini, who served as writer on Batman: Arkham Asylum and Arkham City, stated that he hadn’t been contacted by Warner to work on a third Batman game.
