Holy Sorcery Story is a PlayStation Vita roguelike from Compile Heart. Similar to the Shiren the Wanderer series, monsters move only after Pupuru makes her move. Pupuru levels up after gaining enough experience, but once she leaves the dungeon her level goes back to 1. Because of this system, carrying better equipment becomes an important factor.
If Pupuru’s HP falls to 0, she will be knocked out and will be sent back to town. To top it off, players will lose all their items and money acquired during that dungeon run.
There are loads of treasures to discover in dungeons, but beware! There are loads of trap treasure boxes, too. However, there are ways to work around these traps to acquire the items.
Kuusii has grown a liking to Pupuru and follows her everywhere in the dungeons. It doesn’t have an HP bar, but has a hunger meter instead, which goes down over time or after taking hits from enemies. When Kuusii becomes completely hungry, it’ll no longer listen to Pupuru and may start some trouble of its own.
Although it doesn’t gain experience, players can feed any kind of items to level it up. There are still many mysteries surrounding this gluttonous creature.
Holy Sorcery Story is slated to be released on March 28th, 2013.
